March 31, 2020 – Decatur, Georgia

Units responded to a house fire on Liffey Ln. Company 16 arrived on the scene to smoke and flames showing from the rear of the home. Crews were informed that everyone was out of the structure. E7 and E16 handled fire attack while TK16 and E20 completed a primary on the first floor and basement. Company 24 removed burglar bars from the windows. Crews laid in approximately 700 ft. of 5-inch supply line and were able to quickly bring the fire under control. One firefighter was transported to the hospital with a lower leg injury.

Trooper Brandon White
Maryland State Police
March 16, 2020 – Largo, Maryland
Around 10 pm, Trooper Brandon White was on patrol when he was dispatched to a reported crash on southbound Route 202 at Campus Way South, in Largo. The three Prince George’s County officers also responded to assist. A vehicle was southbound in lane two of Route 202 when it struck the rear of another vehicle. During the investigation, the first driver was showing signs of impairment and the police officers at the scene were about to begin roadside field sobriety tests. Around 10:10 pm Trooper White was seated in his patrol car positioned behind the crash scene with his emergency lights activated, when a southbound vehicle struck the rear of his car. The force of the crash caused the patrol car to rotate and it struck the three county police officers, who were standing at the rear of the second vehicle involved in the first crash. This vehicle then continued, sideswiping another vehicle and striking the driver of the second vehicle from the first crash, who was standing outside his truck. The second crash driver was also impaired.
The trooper and all three officers were transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center where they are receiving treatment for their injuries.
We hope this quilt will provide Trooper White with some comfort while he recovers.

March 16, 2020 – Largo, Maryland

Delray Beach Fire Rescue
February 25, 2020 - Delray Beach, Florida
City and county firefighters responded around 10am to reports of a structure fire at a vacant train station, off Atlantic Avenue on the west side of Interstate.
A Delray Beach firefighter was injured when the force of a fire threw him to the ground as he entered the building. The firefighter suffered burns to his neck and ears. He was treated at a hospital.

King County Sheriff’s Office
March 12, 2020 – Tukwila, Washington
A concrete truck loaded with 105,000 pounds of powdered concrete smashed into a King County Deputy’s vehicle around 10:15 am. The fully loaded concrete truck exited off the ramp from Southbound I-5 Interurban South of Seattle traveling too fast for conditions. The driver of the concrete truck crossed the centerline and struck a King County Sheriff’s Deputy, nearly head-on. The driver was charged with a DUI. The Deputy was transported to the hospital with a broken leg.

Detroit Police Department
March 6, 2020 – Detroit, Michigan
An officer with the Detroit Police Department was hospitalized following an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. The female officer accidentally shot herself at Detroit Public Safety headquarters while working. The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
We hope this quilt will provide a little comfort while this officer recovers.
K9 Deputy Scott Cronin and K9 Vise
Polk County Sheriff’s Office
March 28, 2020 – Polk County, Florida
A suspect broke into a home in Lakeland on 8:30pm by smashing the glass on the front door of a home on Grand Pines Boulevard using a tire lug wrench. Deputy Scott Cronin and his K9 Vise learned the suspect was hiding inside the master bedroom closet refusing to come out. K9 Vise was sent into the closet to detain him but once he was inside the closet, the suspect began to stab him with a kitchen knife he had grabbed. Deputy Cronin was able to rip the knife out of the suspects hand but was cut in the struggle.
K9 Vise was taken to Parkway Veterinary Emergency Clinic where he underwent surgery for nine stab wounds and an arterial bleed. While Deputy Cronin suffered a laceration while wrestling the knife out of the suspects hand.
Update April 15, 2020
After 18 days of recovery, the sheriff’s office said Vise was cleared to return to duty.
“Vise, our hero, returns to duty after being stabbed and undergoing surgery and stitches,” they wrote on Twitter. “He’s received gifts and well-wishes from all over the country! We are so proud of our very good boy!”
We are happy to see K9 Vise and Deputy Cronin are back to work! We send these quilts to let them know we care.
Sgt Jared Lindsay
Harris County PCT Constables
March 8, 2020 - Missouri City, Texas
Sgt Jared Lindsay was involved in a crash around 3:30 am in the 14300 block of Hillcroft Avenue at the intersection of Hillcroft Avenue and Beltway 8 in Missouri City.
A DUI driver T-boned Sgt Lindsay in the intersection and he had to be rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital. According to officials, Sgt Lindsay began going in and out of consciousness upon arrival.

Officers Marissa Dowhan and Alicia Hubert
Phoenix Police Department
March 23, 2020 – Phoenix, Arizona

Around 4:30pm near 39th Drive and Pinnacle Peak Road, about 2 miles west of Interstate 17 three officers responded to a residence for a family fight but learned it was roommates calling about another roommate who was acting erratic and strange. The roommates wanted the other roommate to leave. Later the officers entered the home and tried to contact the roommate that would not leave. He was cooperative at first, and officers helped him remove property. At one point, the roommate closed the door and left the officers outside the residence. That is when the three officers reentered the home and spoke with the roommate. However, he didn't want to leave the house and went to an upstairs room. The three officers started walking upstairs when the roommate exited the room and shot at them.
Commander Greg Carnicle, sadly, was killed. Officers Marissa Dowhan and Alicia Hubert were taken to a local hospital for their injuries.
We send our deepest sympathies to the Phoenix Police Department and the family of Commander Greg Carnicle for their loss. We hope these quilts will provide Officers Marissa Dowhan and Alicia Hubert some comfort while they heal.

Illinois State Police
February 28, 2020 – Chicago, Illinois

Two Illinois State Police Troopers were injured in a crash on the Bishop Ford Freeway. Both Troopers were responding to a crash on I-94 northbound at 115th Street when both police vehicles became involved in a crash in the southbound lanes of I-94 at 111th Street at around 9am. Both Troopers were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.
Unfortunately, these things happen. We send these quilts to provide a little comfort during this time.
Motor Officer Chris Hensley
Burbank Police Department
January 23, 2020 – Burbank, California
At around 5:30pm Motorcycle Officer Chris Hensley was involved in a crash at the intersection of San Fernando Blvd and Verdugo St while on duty. Paramedics who arrived treated him, taking off his helmet and placing it with his other belongings on a nearby bus bench and then transporting him to a local hospital. Unbelievably, a person walked up to the officer’s belongings and walked off with his helmet!
The helmet and person responsible have been found. Officer Hensley is now recovery from this accident.

Garden Grove Police Department
February 26, 2020 – Garden Grove, California
A Garden Grove Police Officer was driving to the Garden Grove Police Department shortly around 1am when he came across a vehicle smashed up around a pole near Harbor Boulevard and Trask Avenue. He approached the vehicle to see whether anyone was hurt and few minutes later, the officer radioed for backup, saying he was in a fight with the vehicle’s driver. The officer was taken to a hospital with injuries. The vehicle had been stolen from a dealership in Santa Ana just before the crash.
We send this quilt to this Officer to let him know we are thinking of him and wish him the best.

Illinois State Police
February 3, 2020 – Chicago, Illinois
An Illinois State Trooper was northbound behind a car around 2:30am on I-57 when that car lost control on I-57 near 138th Street in the south suburbs. The Trooper’s vehicle hit the out of control car before they both struck the left wall. There were three passengers in the car of which 1 was killed, 1 injured and 1 had no injuries. The Trooper was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with minor injuries.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office
February 23, 2020 – Sheldon, Texas
The Deputy’s patrol car and another vehicle were stopped at a red light around 3am on the 14100 block of Crosby Freeway in Sheldon. A truck rear ended the other vehicle, pushing it into the patrol car. The deputy suffered minor neck and back injuries. The truck driver was suspected of a DUI.
We hope this quilt will provide comfort during this Deputy’s recovery.
Trooper Christopher DiBartolo
New York State Police
February 11, 2020 – Rockland, New York
Trooper Christopher DiBartolo had stopped a motorist around 6pm on Route 17 westbound in the Town of Rockland, in northern Sullivan County. Trooper DiBartolo spoke with the motorist and then went back to his patrol vehicle and when he started to step back out of the car to issue the ticket, he heard a radio transmission and shut the door to listen. Seconds later, another vehicle hit Trooper DiBartolo’s vehicle in the rear and side, pushing it into the stopped vehicle. Trooper DiBartolo was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill for his injuries.

Officer Lincoln Suszek
Alpena Police Department
February 10, 2020 – Alpena, Michigan
A fire broke out around 11am and Officer Lincoln Suszek and an off-duty Fire Captain Andy Marceau arrived first. They were made aware of a couple inside the home and tried to make entry but were pushed back by the heavy smoke and fire. The couple was removed from the residence and the wife was flown to a burn unit, but the husband passed away. Officer Suszek was injured while attempting to rescue the couple and was taken to the hospital because of smoke inhalation and a wrist injury.

Houston Police Department
February 22, 2020 – Houston, Texas
Around 7:15pm a Houston Police Officer was called to a location involving a disturbance. They activated their lights and sirens and was heading to the call. A van heading towards the officer made a left hand turn in front of the patrol vehicle hitting it. The crash was reported at Telephone Road and McHenry Drive.
The HPD officer and the driver were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
We hope this quilt will provide comfort to the Officer while they recover.
Officer Earrett Green
Conyers Police Department
March 6, 2020 – Conyers, Georgia
Around 10:15 am Officer Earrett Green was on his way to a call, with his lights and sirens activated, when he entered the intersection of Ga. 138 and Flat Shoals Road. He collided with a pick-up truck headed south on Ga. 138, causing the cruiser to spin out and hit another vehicle. Officer Green was taken to Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries to his lower extremities.
