Ste Genevieve Police Department
April 12, 2021 – Ste Genevieve, Missouri
Officer Pete Unverferth was responding to a disturbance call when he encountered a suspect outside who was outside his parents' home, holding a bottle filled with flammable liquid. The suspect then lit the bottle and refused the orders to drop it. Officer Unverferth used his taser on the suspect, but it did not stop the suspect. The suspect threw the Molotov cocktail at Officer Unverferth which broke on his arm, burning his arms, legs and torso. He rolled on the ground to extinguish the flames while the suspect's family tried to help him with a hose.
Officer Unverferth was alert after being flown to a St. Louis hospital for his injuries. He suffered serious burns.
We provide this quilt to Officer Unverferth in hopes it will provide him some comfort while he recovers.
