The crash happened at about 12:30 am in the 16000 block of FM 3005, in the stretch of road between the entrance of the Galveston Island State Park and the Jamaica Beach city limits. Police were responding to a call for help from the Lake Jackson Police Department, who earlier in the evening had tried and failed to stop in a chase. The officer looked in his rear-view mirror and saw another car approaching very quickly. The officer knew the car wouldn't be able to stop but he was unable to move. The distracted driver hit the back of the officer's patrol car, pushing it forward into the van. The patrol car appears to be totaled and there's significant damage to the at-fault driver's vehicle. Police said the at-fault driver appeared to be distracted by her cell phone. While being interviewed, she said she'd been looking at her GPS at the time of the collision.
The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment for back and neck pain. (Information provided by KHQ6)

Sgt Brian Nelson
Utah Highway Patrol
September 29, 2019 – I-15 NB 398 Portage exit area, Utah
Curtesy of the Department Public Information Officer - On Saturday, Sept 28th at approximately 13:20 hours, Sgt. Brian Nelson was called to his third crash of the day at I-15 NB 398 Portage exit area. This involved vehicles that were traveling too fast in the rain and crashed into the cable barrier in the median. Sgt. Nelson arrived on this crash and advised the driver to sit in his car in case anyone else lost control. Sgt. Nelson had Plymouth Fire set up behind him with their lights going to give an early warning until a second trooper could arrive. At approximately 13:36 a pickup truck lost control as it passed the firetruck northbound and slid sideways across the inside lane and struck the passenger rear corner of Sgt. Nelson’s patrol car, sideswiping his vehicle with the front of the truck. This pushed Sgt. Nelson’s car closer to the median area and forward. The truck continued to spin and struck the previously crashed SUV in the driver side with its tail end and then continued to spin coming to a stop about 50 yards north of the original crash scene. Sgt. Nelson had serious neck pain and a medical helicopter was requested. Because of heavy rain he was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital and checked out and luckily, he did not have any visible breaks and the helicopter was canceled.
We send this quilt to provide comfort while Sgt Nelson heals.

A dog in the Williamsport area was missing for a week until employees at the Pinesburg Quarry spotted the dog, Wesson, trapped 150 feet from the top of the quarry. The dog was located about 150 feet down and 150 feet up from the bottom. Officials responded to the scene and began the rescuing process. In the first attempt, a firefighter was injured and transported to Meritus Medical Center.
After multiple attempts, 7 hours later, around 4 p.m., officials were able to retrieve the dog and bring the pet safely back to the ground.
We are happy to read that both the dog and the firefighter will be ok. Sending this quilt to provide comfort to the firefighter during his recovery.
