Grandview Heights police had been called to a home on the 1300 block of Glenn Avenue around 6:30 pm on a report of a disturbance involving two neighbors. When the officers arrived, they discovered one of the neighbors involved had an outstanding warrant for a traffic offense. Officers attempted to have the suspect leave his home so they could take him into custody. He kicked his front door and broke glass in the direction of the officers who were on his porch. At least one officer used pepper spray on the suspect, who then grabbed a baseball bat with screws and nails sticking out of it.
He swung the bat, striking and breaking Sgt Greg Gillespie’s hand and puncture wounds.
We are thankful the officer was not more seriously injured and send this quilt to provide comfort during his healing.
