September 9, 2021 – Hilo, Hawaii
Firefighter Lizzy Stabo from a Pahala volunteer company was severely injured while fighting a long-burning underground fire in Ka‘u. The fire has been burning underground for almost five months at Honuapo. The area, which was once sugar cane land, is covered in a cane pulp residue called bagasse, which is burned as fuel. It looks like regular ground, but it’s burnt out underneath creating air pockets that are 400 - 500 degrees. Firefighter Stabo fell in up to her waist but was wearing the proper protective gear. She was in a hole that was so hot she could not use her hands and arms to lift herself out.
Firefighter Stabo remains in the burn unit at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu with second- and third-degree burns to the lower half of her body.

San Bernardino Police Department
August 18, 2021 – San Bernardino, California
Around 3:30pm two San Bernardino Officers were shot in Highland while investigating a man believed to have injured a Deputy during a shooting the day before. The SWAT Officers had been surveilling the man for hours in connection with the investigation into the Deputy’s shooting when they attempted to take the suspect into custody near Rosemary Drive and Victoria Avenue.
The Officers were taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center to be treated.
We send the Deputy and both Officers these quilts to let them all know we care.

August 17, 2021 – San Bernardino, California
Around 4pm a Deputy in his patrol car with its sirens was in pursuit of a white car. As the Deputy’s vehicle rounds a corner in pursuit, gunshots ring out, and the patrol car comes to a halt.
The Deputy was shot and was transported to the Community Hospital of San Bernardino.
Deputy Daniel Rickard
Kern County Sheriff’s Office
August 28, 2021 – Kern County, California
Around 12:45am at Niles and Virginia streets a pickup was driving north on Virginia Street approaching Niles as Deputy Daniel Rickard drove a marked patrol vehicle west on Niles approaching Virginia. The truck ran the red light and entered the intersection, hitting the patrol vehicle then striking a traffic pole before overturning in an adjacent parking lot. The driver ran off but left two passengers who were injured.
Deputy Daniel Rickard suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Firefighter Richard Gerety
West Stanilaus Fire Protection District
August 28, 2021 – Caldor Fore, California
Firefighter Richard Gerety was burned while battling the Caldor Fire after falling into a stump hole. A California National Guard said a helicopter flew the firefighter with second-degree burns from Kirkwood Helibase near Highway 88 to Sacramento, where he was taken to a burn unit. His wife, Jennifer Gerety, said he sustained second- and third-degree burns across 20% of his body.

K9 Yogi
Las Vegas Metro Police Department
September 3, 2021 – Las Vegas, Nevada
Officers were called to the Pinnacle Apartments at 9am by a man who said another man threatened, then chased him with a knife during an argument over occupancy of an apartment. Police searched the area for the suspect but could not find him. Police returned to the Pinnacle Apartments a little more than an hour later and found the suspect in the middle of the complex. An Officer chased him down the street to a parking lot where the suspect brandished a knife and took a fighting stance while lunging at an Officer. At the same time, an Officer approached with K9 Yogi. The suspect dropped the knife but kept retreating, so K9 Yogi was sent to get the suspect.
K9 Yogi bit the suspect on his left arm as he took the man to the ground. The suspect decided to bite back. The suspect took a sitting position and bit K9 Yogi behind his ears in the neck area two separate times.

Officer Laramie Kennedy
Forney Police Department
August 23, 2021 – Forney, Texas
Around 2pm Officer Laramie Kennedy observed and confirmed a stolen vehicle in the 160 block of Wandering Drive in Forney. A tow truck was dispatched to the scene to tow the vehicle. While the vehicle was being towed, Officer Kennedy had detained a suspect. That suspect then fled the scene on foot and a chase occurred.
During the foot pursuit, Officer Kennedy got a substantial injury to his hand and was taken by another Officer to an area hospital.

K9 AX and K9 Endo
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office
September 11, 2021 – Deland, Florida
A Lyft driver reported a carjacking around 11:30pm after picking up a passenger in Sanford and taking him to a remote area of Reed Ellis Road in the Osteen area. The suspect put a gun to his head and stole his minivan. Deputies spotted the minivan off Lake Helen Osteen Road and Capri Circle near the Deltona Gardens Apartments and Lowe’s, and the driver got out and ran into a wooded area. K9 Ax was shot in the face shortly after midnight while K-9 Endo was shot in the paw and chin around 2:20am.
The dogs survived and are receiving great veterinary care.
“There is no doubt that K-9 Ax and K-9 Endo took bullets that were meant for my deputies,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in a media briefing.

Trooper Joshua Straw

August 17, 2021 - Burleson County, Texas
Around 7pm agencies were attempting to serve a warrant which ended in a multi-agency standoff, at a residence in the 400 block of FM 60 in Caldwell, which lasted until early Wednesday morning. Around 3 am on Wednesday the suspect exited his home and fired at a Trooper Joshua Strawn and injured him with a gunshot wound to the arm. Chief Deputy John Pollock was shot in the jaw/chin area.
Chief Deputy Pollock was transferred to CHI-St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Trooper Strawn was taken to the hospital for his injury. Both Trooper Strawn and Chief Deputy Pollock have been released from the hospital and are recovering at home.

August 17, 2021 - Burleson County, Texas

Brevard County Sheriff’s Office
August 30, 2021 – Melbourne, Florida
Around 1pm a Deputy initiated a traffic stop along U.S. 192, just west of I-95, in the West Melbourne area. At one point during the traffic stop the passenger at the back seat of the car, who had a two-month-old baby, was asked to exit the vehicle at which time he immediately exited and produced a short stock rifle. He began firing at the Deputy closest to him.
A Deputy was shot in the leg but is expected to survive and make a full recovery.

August 28, 2021 – Melbourne, Florida
Around 3pm a car was pulling out of a driveway to make a left turn onto Sarno. At that moment a motor Deputy, who had his emergency lights because he was escorting a funeral procession was passing by. The driver pulled out in front of the Deputy, and the Deputy had to lay the motorcycle down and then was thrown from the motorcycle.
The Deputy was transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Chief Joseph Kelly
Yardley Borough Police Department
August 18, 2021 - Yardley, Pennsylvania
Chief Joseph Kelly responded to a call for backup from a probation officer who was performing a check on a person at the request of his parents. Chief Kelly was struck in the hand and the ear when the person turned suspect, opened fire with a shotgun inside his unit at the Yardley Commons apartment complex.
Chief Kelly was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Deputy Joshua Whitmore
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
August 14, 2021 – Monks Corner, South Carolina
Around 2am Deputy Joshua Whitmore was responding with emergency lights and sirens to a disturbance call that involved firearms when another vehicle traveling eastbound made a left turn in front of him. Deputy Whitmore was traveling westbound on University Boulevard (U.S. Route 78) between Goose Creek and Ladson.
Deputy Whitmore was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is now at home recovering.

Officer Michael Rokaitis
Modesto Police Department
August 14, 2021 – Modesto, California
Officer Michael Rokaitis was shot while serving a search warrant at home on East Orangeburg Avenue following a pursuit. Officer Rokaitis was shot twice, once in his ballistic vest and a second time below his vest in his lower abdomen. The gunshot injured an artery to his right leg. He has undergone six surgeries since being shot. Sadly, the medical professionals are not able to save part of his leg and he will have to have part of his lower leg amputated.
We send this quilt to Officer Rokaitis to provide comfort to him while he continues down his long road to recovery.

September 4, 2021 – Aloha, Oregon
Around 3am two Deputies were working on a DUI investigation on SW 185th Avenue, just north of SW Blanton Street. They had arrested the suspect involved and one Deputy was in the process of placing the suspect in the back seat of the patrol car when the vehicle was struck from behind by a speeding truck who was also a DUI.
The first Deputy was able to get out of the way in time, however, the other female Deputy was hit and thrown to the ground about six feet away. The Deputy was treated by first responders and taken to a nearby trauma center.
We provide this quilt to this deputy to give her comfort while she recovers.

August 17, 2021 – Oceanside, California
around 10:30am when they saw a suspect on the roadside with a female companion, holding an open alcoholic-beverage container. The Officers approached the couple and asked them to identify themselves. The male suspect gave them a false name, but the Officers were able to identify him and knew he had an outstanding felony assault warrant. They went to arrest the male suspect and he began to struggle with them, knocking both Officers to the ground before running off. They were able to catch up to the suspect in a short foot chase, but the suspect struggled again injuring both Officers.
Paramedics took Officer Mark Daly to Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, where he received 18 stitches for cuts to his face.

Deputy Breanton Chitwood
Clay County Sheriff's Office
August 16, 2021 - Henrietta, Texas
Around 7:30pm near the Jolly Truck Stop on HWY 287 Deputy Breanton Chitwood initiated a traffic stop. Deputy Chitwood walked up to the vehicle and was immediately shot by the driver.
Deputy Chitwood was thankfully shot in his vest and will make a full recovery.

Deputy Casey Donald
Richmond County Sheriff's Office
August 12, 2021- Augusta, Georgia
Deputy Casey Donald was responding to an emergency call and traveling south on Highway 56 around 8:30pm near the intersection of Mike Padgett Highway and Moore Road. Another driver was traveling north on Highway 56 and turned left in front of his patrol car.
Deputy Donald was transported to Augusta University Medical Center.
We send this quilt to Deputy Donald to give him comfort while he recovers.
Firefighter Bryan Bradley
Richmond Fire Department
August 15, 2021 - Richmond, Virginia
Firefighter Bryan Bradley was part of a crew that responded to a house fire with multiple reports of people being trapped on Banton Street. FF Bradley immediately entered the burning home and started a search. While searching, he received severe burns to both his hands even though he was wearing all of his equipment and despite doing all of the right things, the heat was too much for his equipment.
FF Bradley was in the Burn Unit at VCU Medical Center. According to a fundraising site: “It is almost as bad as it could get without any permanent damage or deficit. He is not going to have mobility in those hands for quite some time, he’s going to need help with just about everything.”

Indianapolis Metro Police Department
August 22, 2021 – Indianapolis, Indiana
Around 2am in the 6500 block of Knobstone Way, near Southeastern Avenue and Interstate 465 in Franklin Township Officers were responding to an emotional crisis call. Responding Officers were told that the man was having suicidal thoughts. When they arrived at the home, they contacted the man and his family and Officers used their mental health and de-escalation training while speaking with the man.
Officers were waiting for an ambulance to transport the man to the hospital for evaluation when the man lunged at an Officer and grabbed his gun, which was holstered. During the struggle for the gun, the gun went off, injuring the Officer's leg. The Officer is reported to be in good condition after sustaining what is described as a graze wound from a gunshot.

K9 Duke

August 22, 2021 – Virginia
Shortly after 11:30 am Senior Trooper J.R. Lewis and K9 Duke responded to a request for assistance with tracking the suspect involved in a crash at mile marker 187 on I-81.
Virginia State Police Facebook Information:
“The tracking and search efforts required of the canine team were extensive and demanding as temperatures reached into the 90s with extreme humidity. As soon as Duke began showing symptoms of heat exhaustion, Senior Trooper Lewis returned him to their patrol vehicle to help cool and hydrate Duke.”
K9 Duke was brought to an emergency veterinary clinic in the region to undergo treatment, but authorities say the damage to his organs was too severe and he passed away with Lewis at his side on Monday, Aug. 30.
We had sent the quilt to K9 Duke to provide comfort prior to knowing of his passing. We send our condolences to the department and Trooper Lewis for their loss. 💙
K9 Cezar
San Diego County Sheriff’s Office
September 6, 2021 – San Diego, California
Around 11:45pm a Deputy saw a suspect running out of a 7-Eleven at 10205 Lake Jennings Park Road in Lakeside. A witness told the deputy that the suspect had just robbed the store. The Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect drove away. The suspect was pursued onto westbound I-8 and CHP was called to assist. The pursuit continued onto northbound I-15 where the car became disabled on Murrieta Gateway at Los Alamos Road near the Shell gas station on Los Alamos Road. The three suspects then exited the car and ran into a nearby shopping center where they attempted to carjack a passing car when a Deputy from SDSD released K9 Cezar.
K9 Cezar was struck by a bullet from one suspect’s gun. He was taken to a nearby veterinarian. San Diego County Sheriff’s Department gave an update on K9 Cezar’s surgery, saying they successfully removed bullet fragments from the dog’s leg. K9 Cezar is credited for “valiantly protecting” his handler Deputy Avedesian.

August 7, 2021 – Duluth, Georgia
Around 4am on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at the intersection at Abbotts Bridge Road Officer Ricky Porter was proceeding on a green light when he was hit by a pickup truck. The other driver got out of his truck and ran from the scene.
Officer Porter was transported to a nearby hospital and was in critical but stable condition.

Greenfield Police Department
August 22, 2021 – Greenfield, Wisconsin
Around 1:30am a Greenfield Police Officer pulled over a vehicle near 35th St and Oklahoma Ave. The driver initially stopped but then drove off and crashed the car. He got out of his crashed car and started firing at Officers.
One Officer was hit and taken to a hospital in critical condition.
We send this quilt to this Officer to provide comfort while he recovers.

August 3, 2021 – Texas City, Texas
An Officer was responding to a minor crash at Palmer Highway and 35th Street when he realized one of the men involved in the incident had felony warrants for marijuana, evading arrest and human smuggling. The suspect resisted arrest and got into a scuffle with the Officer.
During the altercation, the Officer fell on a piece of metal from the crash, which caused a serious cut to his arm. The Officer was transported to UTMB Galveston in stable condition.

Deputy C. Sujo
Harris County Sheriff’s Office
August 4, 2021 – Houston, Texas
Deputy C. Sujo was on a traffic stop around 1:30am in the 8500 block of the South Sam Houston Parkway. While speaking to the driver on the driver side of the vehicle Deputy Sujo is hit by a passing pickup truck. His dashcam camera caught the incident and you can hear a scream from the Deputy as he moved away from the side of the road toward safety.
The man driving the truck didn't stop at first, but another Deputy nearby pulled him over about a quarter of a mile down the road. The driver of the truck did not realize he had hit Deputy Sujo. Because he was intoxicated.
Deputy Sujo was taken to a local hospital to be treated.

July 29, 2021 – Mt Lebanon, Pennsylvania
A suspect called 911 around midnight and told authorities that he had a fight with his parents inside their residence in the 200 block of Gilkeson Road. The suspect, who was living at the same address, told authorities that his parents were dead, and he wanted to surrender. When Officers arrived at the home they made contact with the suspect, who then opened fire.
Officer Rob Barnes was shot in the torso during the exchange. Officer Matthew Bradburn was also injured during the incident.

July 14, 2021 – Scott County, Indiana
Around 7am Trooper Jonathan Cain was sitting stationary in the median crossover on I-65 near the 33 mile-marker monitoring for traffic violations. A pickup truck was pulling a flatbed trailer southbound on I-65 approaching the crossover where Trooper Cain was stationed. The flatbed trailer was loaded with a car, which broke free from its cargo straps. As the truck and trailer continued southbound, the car rolled off the back of the trailer entering the roadway, and then traveled off the east side of the southbound lanes and collided with Trooper Cain's car.
Trooper Cain suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by Scott County EMS to Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany before being transferred to University Hospital in Louisville.

July 28, 2021 – Ontario, California
Around 5pm Ontario Police received multiple calls regarding a fight involving several individuals on the eastbound SR60, east of Vineyard Avenue. When Officers arrived on scene, they contacted the parties involved. The initial altercation transpired because of a traffic collision. While Officers were trying to conduct their investigation, three of the individuals became verbally and physically combative towards the Officers.
During the altercation an Officer sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
We send this quilt to this Officer to let him know we care.
Sgt. Brian Scott

July 29. 2021 – Dublin, Georgia
Around 2:30pm an accident happened on the Hillcrest Parkway around the area of Brookhaven Drive. Sgt Brian Scott was in his cruiser and running a laser in the area. A driver in a pickup truck was driving in the area when they suddenly ran off the side of the road, striking the cruiser. The vehicles both went off the side of the road and ended up stopping in the woods.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. Both Sgt Scott and the driver of the pickup truck were seriously injured. They were airlifted to local hospitals for treatment.

Officer Manuel Dominguez
Corpus Christi Police Department
August 4, 2021 – Corpus Christi, Texas
Around 2pm Officer Manuel Dominguez was answering a call for a disturbance in progress at the Water Color Apartments, formerly known as Marbella Apartments. When he arrived, a suspect came outside of the apartment and started shooting. Officer Dominguez was shot multiple times by a suspect.
Officer Dominguez was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. He was in the ICU at Spohn Shoreline Hospital.
We provide this quilt to Officer Dominguez to provide comfort while he recovers.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office
July 28, 2021 – Boynton Beach, Florida
Around noon Deputies responded to a home in a gated community near Jog Road and Woolbright Road to serve a domestic warrant at a home in the 5500 block of Fairway Park Drive. Around 1pm Deputies knocked on the door after some surveillance and the brother of the suspect let them in. The suspect opened fire on the deputies.
One Deputy was struck in the leg and hand.

August 14, 2021 – Wilmington, Delaware
Around 1:30 am Delaware State Troopers were parked behind a car that had ran out of gas near Interstate 95 southbound near the Salem Church Road overpass. Shortly after a DUI driver slammed into the back of the first Trooper’s vehicle sending it smashing into the back of the other Trooper’s vehicle which also had K9 Bolt inside.
Both Troopers and K9 Bolt to were evaluated for injuries.

August 23 & 27, 2021 – Edwardsville, Illinois
8-23: A suspect hit K9 Jax during an arrest.
8-27: A suspect kicked two Alton Officers and grabbed the lower jaw of K9 Jax which caused damage to his jaw.

Anchorage Police Department
September 3, 2021 - Anchorage, Alaska
Around 10:15pm dispatch received a report of shots fired in the 4100 block of Lana Court. There was a verbal altercation inside a residence involving several people. Witnesses reported an intoxicated armed adult male left the residence and fired several shots in the area. Officers with the Patrol Division and K-9 Unit arrived and began to search for the suspect. Around 11:30pm the suspect was located near the residence. Three officers approached the suspect and attempted to take him into custody. During this time, a struggle ensued, and an Officer’s firearm was discharged striking another Officer in the lower body. Multiple Officers immediately began rendering aid to the injured Officer until Anchorage Fire Department arrived.
The Officer was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and had surgery.
A Quilts for Cops volunteer delivered this quilt to the Officers in the picture so they could deliver it to the injured Officer. We hope the quilt will provide the injured Officer some comfort while he recovers.

Firefighter Dan La Rock

August 2, 2021 – Sonora, California
Around 2am while on the way to a fire call a crash occurred near the intersection of Pershing Avenue and West March Lane. A vehicle hit the fire truck, which caused the truck to hit a building.
Firefighter Dan La Rock was ejected, leaving him with a fractured femur, fractured vertebrae, fractured ribs, and a ruptured spleen.
We provide this quilt to give Firefighter La Rock comfort during his long road of recovery.
Deputy John Erickson
Fresno County Sheriff’s Office
August 3, 2021 – Fresno, California
Around 11am in the 29000 block of Quail Springs Lane, south of Tollhouse in the Sierra foothills Deputies responded to a call regarding a property dispute. When Deputies arrived, they were immediate fired upon.
Deputy John Erickson was shot and flown to Community Regional Medical Center. He had surgery and is now recovering.
We send this quilt to provide Deputy Erickson comfort while he recovers.
Trooper Bruce Bureggeman
Alaska State Troopers
August 23, 2021 – Anchor Point, Alaska
Around 1pm Trooper Bruce Bureggeman assigned to Anchor Point observed a resident of Anchor Point at a business in downtown Anchor Point; The resident was known to have multiple warrants out for his arrest. Trooper Bureggeman contacted the suspect to attempt to arrest him on his outstanding warrants. During the contact, the suspect produced a handgun and fired at Trooper Bureggeman, striking him multiple times.
Trooper Bureggeman was airlifted to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

August 22, 2021 – Galt, California
The deadly crash happened about 4:30am near SR 99/Dillard Rd. Officer Harminder Grewal and Kapri Herrera headed out to work at the Caldor Fire burning in El Dorado County as part of the state’s mutual aid program. Because of the seriousness of the growing blaze, area police were called to assist, a small community they did not live in, but they gave up their free days to make sure they were safe.
A pickup truck heading south hit the median, broke through a barrier, and struck the patrol vehicle, which was traveling about 70 mph. Both Officers had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Officer Grewal had been hospitalized at Kaiser South Sacramento in intensive care since the incident but has passed away due to his injuries. We send his family and the department our condolences.
Officer Herrera also suffered serious injuries and was in an ICU and has undergone surgery.

July 19, 2021 – Tucson, Arizona

Around 3:45pm Tucson Fire crews were sent to extinguish a house fire in the 2100 block of East Irene Vista near South Kino Parkway and East 36th Street, while a team of medics were responding to a medical emergency at Quincie Douglas Park for an unrelated medical call. The responding fire crew reported a vehicle was following them to the fire. The medics were flagged down by a suspect who pointed in the direction of the house fire and then began shooting and shot both medics. Then, the suspect drove up to the scene of a nearby house fire and began shooting at firefighters and neighbors trying to douse the flames.
In all, two EMTs, one firefighter and two neighbors — one of whom died — were shot.

August 4, 2021 – I-215, Utah

Trooper Thomas Barnum was heading to the side of the freeway to write a DUI investigation, which he had just performed, when he heard a tire scream. “And as soon as I heard the scream of tires, I remembered that my vehicle was almost thrown into traffic. It started to turn. The front side of my vehicle started moving toward traffic, so it’s vertical at the time,” he said. Trooper Barnum was on the shoulder of I-215 — about 10 feet off the main road — near the 700 north when it struck the rear.
Trooper Barnum was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Sgt Andrew Pollard
Utah Highway Patrol
August 1, 2021 – I-215, Utah

Sgt. Andrew Pollard was pulled over the shoulder of I-215 near 2800 South to investigate an abandoned vehicle. In a body-cam video that was released, Sgt Pollard was violently and unexpectedly struck in the back while sitting in the driver’s seat. Sgt Pollard, clearly in pain, struggled to get out of his car and past the cement barrier for safety.
Sgt Pollard was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

July 29, 2021 – Nelsonville, Ohio

Around 7:30pm Nelsonville Police and Hocking College Police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment along Third Street.
Both Officers were injured during the call and transported to OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital in Athens. Officer K.J. Tracy was shot, and Officer Cecil Morrison sustained injuries during the incident.

August 12, 2021 – Edwardsville, Illinois

Around 10pm an Officer traveling westbound on East Schwarz Street at Jefferson Street had her SUV Patrol Interceptor rear-ended by a pickup truck. The Officer’s SUV was pushed off the north side of the roadway and the vehicle called 9-1-1 for the Officer who was unable to at the time.
Edwardsville Police Officers and EMS responded to the scene, and the Officer was transported to Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis with non-life-threatening injuries.

July 26, 2021 – Limestone County, Alabama

Around 2pm Trooper Michael Edwards was assisting a disabled commercial vehicle his patrol vehicle was rear-ended and crushed into the disabled vehicle in front of it near the 350-mile marker of I-65. The Trooper was taken to Huntsville Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

K9 Cap

August 24, 2021 - Hartford, Michigan

A Michigan State Police K9 Trooper was searching a residence for accelerant after a possible arson fire when an unleashed dog attacked around 10am. The Trooper could not stop the attacking dog and sadly had to put it down to protect K9 Cap.
K9 Cap was taken to Michigan State University Veterinary Clinic for treatment.

Two Troopers and K9 Gable were injured after a vehicle struck their patrol vehicle; they were in on northbound Interstate 5 at the Nisqually River Bridge in Thurston County. The impact pushed the Trooper’s patrol vehicle into the rear of another vehicle.
Both Troopers were taken to the hospital and K9 Gable suffered injuries and was taken to a veterinarian clinic in Gig Harbor to be examined.
We provide these quilts to the Troopers and K9 to let them know we care.

Officer Jamie Hill
Forest City Police Department
August 9, 2021 – Forest City, North Carolina

Three Officers responded to a report of an armed and dangerous person in the Hill Street area at around 8:30am. When they arrived, they encountered the suspect who was known to the Officers and was wanted for probation violations. Officers began to try and communicate with the suspect, but he pointed a gun toward the Officers and opened fire.
During the exchange of gunfire, Officer Jamie Hill was struck. Officer Hill was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital by air ambulance. He was in the ICU after having undergone surgery.
We send this quilt to give Officer Hill comfort while he recovers.
